Choose this when Windows says you need to format the disk, folders have vanished, or the drive is slow and throwing errors. The files are usually still on the disk; the drive’s contents list is damaged and needs rebuilding.

Choose this when the drive was dropped, is clicking or grinding, or won’t spin up. We send those to our partner clean-room lab, Fields Data Recovery, and they quote before any work starts.

The computer won’t start
Windows or Mac hangs on the logo, or you see “Boot Device Not Found”. The laptop may be dead even if the files on the drive are still fine.
Files have vanished
Folders disappear, copies fail, or you get a read error. Switching it off gives us a better chance of getting the files back.
“You need to format this disk”
A USB stick, SD card or external drive asks you to format before you can use it. Cancel that prompt and don’t format it — we can often recover the files first.

Can you recover files from a laptop that won’t turn on?
Yes. If the screen is smashed or the laptop is dead, but the hard drive or SSD inside is still healthy, we can take the drive out in the Wickford workshop and copy your files to a USB stick. That starts at £79.

We need to check that recovered files are usable. Before work starts, we'll explain what access is needed and agree the recovery plan with you.
How do I know which recovery option I need?
You don’t have to decide. The free assessment tells us whether the drive is healthy, corrupted, or physically damaged. You only pay if you go ahead with the quote.
